Friday night I ended up going to the Nationals Game with Paul, Katie and Peter. Paul and I met up at a restaurant bar before heading over to the game where we had a few drinks, some nibblies and met these two women who were very......entertaining. Time got a bit away from us and we got to the stadium late. We grabbed a couple beers for Katie and Paul as a "we're sorry we're tardy" gesture but as luck would have it, they were late as well and got to the seats minutes after we did. We had a great time at the game, Paul made friends with the guys behind us who are also Sox fans and the Nats won (sorry Jim). We ended up hanging out a bit afterwards at a bar near my house with K & P which was great fun because I hardly ever see Peter anymore and he was on his best, most charming behavior. I hit the wall and Paul was close behind me so we left K & P at Stetson's and all I can say is thank God for the walk home in the chilly air.
Saturday was spent recovering and reading trying to finish my book since I was out the night before. We got picked up around 3:45 and I managed to read to about page 367 before getting to book club. Not bad, I must say. On the way to book club we stopped at a friend's house to visit a new baby (6 weeks). So sweet and the best smelling baby if Katie can be believed. After a beer, a piece of Katie's marvelous chocolate cake and a couple fingers of Suntory Whiskey we were off to Herndon (F-A-R) for book club. We arrived and I continued to read as much as I could before the ladies spoiled the ending for me since all they could talk about was page 377. I managed to get into the 390s before the discussion started. I wasn't too disappointed, I had been able to figure out most of the plot by that point so there weren't too many spoilers. Over the course of about 4 1/2 hours we enjoyed five flights of tapas and far too many pitchers of sangria for 8 women. After about an hour of discussing the book (which is really good for us) the gathering slowly turned into Dance Party USA with me playing DJ off my iPod. In order to protect the innocent I shall refrain from detailing the dancing.
Sunday I finished the book (yay), cleaned, grocery shopped, did laundry and baked up a storm. Paul left work to come over for dinner, then left to go back to work where he stayed until after midnight. And I thought I worked too much. It was a great treat to see him last night. It's nice to have someone to look forward to seeing and to miss when they aren't around. Even if he does keep asking questions like "Can you be in charge of the cooking and I take care of the lawn?" (neither of us have a lawn) or "When Charlotte dies, can we get a dog? I mean, can you get a dog?". Charlotte is my cat btw. Granted, he is allergic to her, but I've told him a couple times she's not 'going to Hawaii' for at least 8 years. He should just suck it up and get shots....
