Give me some good beer, conversation, friends, and music and there is little that will bother me. I try to treat others as I wish to be treated and when I don't, I like to think I learn from my mistakes. I believe most people are trustworthy until proven otherwise. I'm a conversational snob. I have little tolerance for stupidity or rudeness. Common courtesy is one of the best traits one can have. I believe there is conversation that is inappropriate for the dinner table. I love running into people I used to know, but am always happier if I look cute when it happens. I think there would be much less ruckus in the world if brunch were a daily offering.

Who Says The French Are Boring?

So I took the long way home on the Metro last night. I'm really enjoying the book I'm reading right now, so I like to have more time to read. Moving on. I was at L'Enfant Plaza, hopped on a Green Line train and waited for a couple minutes for that familiar "doors closing". What happened instead you ask? A member of DC's finest appeared at the door I was standing next to and barks "Out of the train NOW!!!". Not just once, mind you but over and over again while making near violent arm gestures. This happened again at the escalator "Get upstairs NOW!!!". They let people mill about a minute or so upstairs, some who were foolishly looking over the rail at the SWAT team carrying AK-47s, and then "Everyone out of the station NOW!!! MOVE!!!! MOVE!!!! MOVE!!!!". People started to run. I took a moment to calm the nerves of a mother and her young son in town to see the Wizards game and then picked up the pace and got the hell out of le Dodge. Ended up walking with some guy to Chinatown, which is a few scant blocks from where I work, but not very close to L'Enfant. So glad I took the long way home.....

Update:
L'Enfant Plaza Metro station in Southwest Washington was closed briefly last night and commuters were ushered outside after a man told a station manager that he had an explosive device, an official said. Metro Transit Police arrested the man and checked the station but found no explosives. The station, which serves the Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange lines, was closed from 6:53 to 7:07 p.m.
