Give me some good beer, conversation, friends, and music and there is little that will bother me. I try to treat others as I wish to be treated and when I don't, I like to think I learn from my mistakes. I believe most people are trustworthy until proven otherwise. I'm a conversational snob. I have little tolerance for stupidity or rudeness. Common courtesy is one of the best traits one can have. I believe there is conversation that is inappropriate for the dinner table. I love running into people I used to know, but am always happier if I look cute when it happens. I think there would be much less ruckus in the world if brunch were a daily offering.

A Little Catch Up

The weekend between Christmas and New Year's Eve I was invited to go up to Baltimore for the Ravens v. Steelers game. My compadre Niki went to school with one of the Steelers and he offered up a hotel room for Saturday night and tickets to Sunday's game. I won't lie. I was more excited about spending time with my friend (she's in PA and I never get to see her) than the actual game since I am a 49'ers fan. That said, it was pretty fun being a guest of the team and having dinner with Nick. He's a super nice, funny guy and was incredibly generous that weekend. He took us out to dinner, then drinks (water for him) where we watched the Pats eke out their 16th win. The game itself was freezing cold, wet, and windy...first time ever I've been too cold to drink beer. Plus, Ravens fans are, unbelievably, more obnoxious than Orioles fans. Must be the city.

New Year's Eve I was all set to stay in for the night, having turned down a number of invites to do things, I really just wanted to have a calm NYE. Well, that ended at around 9:30 pm. After getting harrassed out by my friends and being assured that if I got all pretty we would NOT be hanging out at James' house, I trudged up to Columbia Heights (really, only 8 minutes away) whereupon entering James' house I found everyone ready to spend the evening in, offering the truth fact that telling me we would go out was the only way to get me out of my house. Damn their logic. I rallied them up enough to hoof it over to a local bar, The Red Derby (my new favorite neighborhood bar btw). We were able to get seats at the bar and had a lovely time drinking inexpensive beer. Having helped the bar staff open a couple bottles of champs right before midnight scored Mary and me two bottles to share between us. The boy next to me asked me to do a shot with him, and who am I to say no? He then asked if he could take a picture of me because he thought I was pretty...which was a little odd, bordering on creepy. He turned out to be a pretty nice, normal guy who kept asking if he could take me to brunch. Instead we are going out this Thursday. Let the Year of Dating Appropriately begin!
